The margarita
A classic summer cocktail that will finally use up that bottle of tequila you brought back from holiday. Thought to have been invented in Mexico in the 1930s or 1940s, it’s sweet yet sour and instantly refreshing

Ingredients
- 120ml tequila
- 60ml triple sec (we used Cointreau)
- 90ml freshly squeezed lime juice
Step by step
- Take 2 Martini glasses and run a lime wedge around the outside of each rim. Sprinkle a little salt onto a saucer and turn the glasses upside down in the salt to coat the rims. Place the tequila, triple sec, freshly squeezed lime juice and a handful of ice cubes in a cocktail shaker. Shake well for about 20 seconds and strain into the Martini glasses. Garnish with slices of lime.
