Newsfeed: Sushi Shop’s new menu, what’s in season now and Birds Eye’s Fish Finger Sandwich Awards

by Charlotte Davidson

Every week, we round up the newest openings, menus and exciting news from the food world. This week, it's Sushi Shop’s new menu, what’s in season now and Birds Eye’s Fish Finger Sandwich Awards.

New location: Motu

Canary Wharf-ers rejoice – Indian takeaway superstars Motu are opening their third kitchen today in London’s business district. Now Motu’s authentic Indian dishes can be enjoyed in the city too. Growing from Battersea and Camberwell, the kitchen offers classic but refined Indian dishes such as Kashmiri lamb shank rogan josh and Madras prawn masala. The new kitchen in Canary Wharf will also offer exclusive dishes such as tandoori paneer naan roll and lamb seekh kebab naan roll – perfect for lunchtime.

Birds Eye’s fabulous Fish Finger Sandwich Awards

Last Thursday 16 February saw the launch of Birds Eye’s first Fish Finger Sandwich Awards. Under the keen eye of head judge Gregg Wallace, contestants had to cook up their fish finger creations for guests. The winners were Gabrielle Sander, who added fish fingers to mayo, smoked paprika, capers, lime juice, wasabi and rocket in a farmhouse bap, and Chris Lanyon, who used fresh Cornish hake fillet coated in panko breadcrumbs and sandwiched it between locally made multi-seed bread with homemade tartare sauce. Their recipes will be printed on select Bird’s Eye packets so you can cook them at home.
