News Feed: Mother's Day, Red Nose Day and lots of bottomless brunch
by Rosie Cassels
Every week we round up the newest openings, menus and exciting news from the food world. This week it’s Mother’s Day, Red Nose Day and bottomless brunches from Cantina del Ponte and Shackfuyu.
Mother’s Day
This Sunday (26 March) is Mother’s Day, so why not show your mum some love by rustling up something special in the kitchen? Whether you want to wow her with a showstopper (cupcake flowerpot bouquet, anyone?) or keep it simple with a lovingly prepared meal (this creamy slow-roast squash dish is just the ticket), we have the recipe for you. Browse our Pinterest for more inspiration…
Tom’s Kitchen
To treat your mum to an indulgent brunch this year, look no further than Tom’s Kitchen in London’s Canary Wharf. The brunch menu offers classic dishes with a luxurious twist – the truffled eggs Benedict and Tom’s full English are not to be missed. Kids eat for free on weekends, too, so book your table today for a special family celebration.
Salt Yard
This Sunday, tapas legends Salt Yard are giving mums a complimentary glass of fizz across all their sites in London. Head to Salt Yard, Ember Yard, Dehesa, Opera Tavern or Veneta for a selection of the finest Italian and Spanish charcuterie, cheese and small plates and treat your mum to some bubbly. We can’t get enough of the creamy burrata cheese at Veneta!
Shackfuyu
There’ll be no more Monday blues now that Soho’s Shackfuyu have launched their ‘Boozy Monday Brunch’. The menu features a selection of small and large Japanese dishes and unlimited Prosecco and pineapple sake, topped off with kinako French toast and soft-serve matcha ice cream. Costing just £35 per person, grab your boozy brunch from 12pm-10pm every Monday to kick-start the week in style.
Cantina del Ponte
If a Sunday roast doesn’t float your boat, you can now indulge in a Prosecco and pasta bottomless brunch with a view of Tower Bridge at Cantina del Ponte. Diners can choose from a selection of Italian dishes – we’ve got our eye on the braised beef ravioli with butter and rosemary – while watching the chefs at work in the front of house pasta station. Available every Sunday from 12pm-3pm. Prices start at £15 for three dishes and bottomless Prosecco is added at an extra £15 per person.
Red Nose Day
Are you taking part in a bake sale in aid of Red Nose Day on 24 March? If you need some last-minute inspiration for this Friday, try these Jammy Dodger biscuits, ready in just 35 minutes, or chocolate fudge cookies, ready in 40 minutes. Play it safe with guaranteed crowd-pleasers, like these luscious lemon cupcakes or Malteser blondies. If you have time to try something a little more adventurous, why not have a go at this spectacular surprise skittles rainbow cake?
