During a recent stay in North Yorkshire, we discovered Yhangry, an online platform that lets you book a private chef to create a bespoke menu right in your own kitchen. Perfect for foodie travellers who’d rather swap busy restaurants for cosy, candlelit dinners and locally sourced ingredients.

What is it?

Yhangry makes at-home dining effortlessly special. Simply browse the line-up of talented private chefs across the UK, pick your favourite and choose your cuisine. Your chef designs a bespoke menu, shops for the ingredients, and cooks everything on-site, so you can relax and enjoy.

It’s ideal for weekend getaways, birthday dinners, or even a stylish night in with friends. Think of it as bringing the restaurant to you – minus the stress (and the washing up).

What's all the fuss about?

Yhangry has become the go-to for anyone who loves food but not the faff. From London loft apartments to Yorkshire cottages, the Yhangry chefs transform ordinary evenings into something memorable. You pick the vibe, they bring the flavour whether that’s a five-course tasting menu, a relaxed family supper, or a celebratory feast.

What was the food like?

Our chef, Jessica, created a stunning four-course seasonal menu that celebrated the flavours of North Yorkshire. She sources ingredients locally and cooks with an easy charm that makes the whole experience feel warm, relaxed and personal. After a blustery day on the Moors, it was exactly the kind of comfort we craved.

What did you eat and drink?

We enjoyed a menu of caramelised onion, apple and goat's cheese crostini; spiced carrot and ginger soup with homemade sourdough bread; herb-crusted salmon with garlic-infused potatoes and autumn greens; and a maple pecan tart.

The crostini were a crisp, creamy delight, paired beautifully with a glass of prosecco. The carrot and ginger soup brought gentle spice and warmth, while the salmon was perfectly fresh and herby. The maple pecan tart? Sticky, nutty perfection and utterly worth every bite.

Your verdict?

Our Yhangry experience was relaxed, friendly and full of flavour. Jessica introduced each dish with care, turning dinner into something interactive and memorable. No rush, no restaurant noise or taxis home, just great food, laughter and candlelight in the comfort of our Yorkshire hideaway.

In a nutshell

Yhangry is perfect for foodies who love to travel, combining the luxury of private dining with the laid-back charm of a night in. It’s an ingredient-led, locally inspired experience that turns a simple supper into something to remember. Whether it’s a girls’ weekend, a family reunion, or a romantic escape, a Yhangry private chef experience is the ultimate foodie indulgence.
