by Charlotte Davidson
Every week, we round up the newest openings, menus and exciting news from the food world. This week, it's panettone, brownies and our December issue.
National Brownie Day
Is there anything better than a warm, chocolatey, gooey brownie? We certainly don’t think so! We can’t wait for Thursday (8 December) as it’s National Brownie Day. Make the most of the day by baking one of our delicious chilli chocolate brownies.
New opening: Shake Shack
This Thursday sees Shake Shack open its third restaurant, this time in Leicester Square, London. The first restaurant opened in Covent Garden three years ago and has exploded in popularity ever since. Keep an eye on intern Ailsa’s Twitter page to see what’s on offer.
Abergavenny food fest
The picturesque market town of Abergavenny welcomes thousands of chefs, producers and food lovers to its festival on Sunday 11December. This Christmas there will be craft workshops, a festive lantern parade and, of course, oodles to eat and drink.
National Comfort Food Day
It’s that time of year where the Christmas panic starts to set in – the weather has turned chilly and you’re not feeling as festive as you’d like. Today (Monday 5 December) is National Comfort Food Day, so forget about your troubles and indulge yourself with a big bowl of pasta or a hearty stew. There’s plenty to choose from on our website.
New opening
Panettone lovers rejoice as this Thursday, trattoria VICO in Seven Dials, London, is opening its Panettone, Gelato and Winter Warmer Bar. We love the sound of the drunken panettone steeped in vinsanto and passito with whipped cream accompanied by a hot chocolate, made from gianduja or dark chocolate. Yum.
