Coffee stop

Exeter has many coffee shops, but my favourite is Devon Coffee. Listed as one of the UK’s top 50 coffee shops by The Independent, it’s super small but the coffee is exquisite. devoncoffee.com

Special treat

Chef Tom Williams and his partner Amelia Boalch have created a beautiful boutique hotel located in Topsham. It’s one of the only places that serves River Exe salmon. Don’t miss the six-course tasting menu, for £59.50 per head. salutationtopsham.co.uk

Local favourite

Established in 1993, Harry’s is an affordable family restaurant which has a loyal local following, especially among University of Exeter staff and students. On my last visit I tucked into a lovely seared tuna steak with avocado. harrysrestaurants.co.uk

Spectacular street food

Exeter has a booming street food scene. Exeter’s Historic Quayside, Piazza Terracina and Southernhay Gardens all host bustling markets. My favourite vendor is Good Game, who sell burgers made from locally reared meat. streetfoodexeter.co.uk
