Journey’s End focuses on crafting distinctive, elegant wines while taking the utmost care of its local community and environment. You will find the winery at the southernmost tip of the Stellenbosch winelands in South Africa, with vineyards cradled in the Hottentot Mountains, resting atop 350-million-year-old soils and looking out over False Bay, as cool breezes drift in from the Atlantic Ocean. 

Journey’s End’s Spekboom Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah wines are inspired by a ‘wonder plant’, which forms a key green project on the winery’s estate. Spekboom is a remarkable succulent known for its ability to sequester carbon. To put it into perspective, one hectare of mature spekboom thicket can remove up to 15 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year, which is up to 7.5 times more than mature woodland. 

To date, Journey’s End has planted 10,500 spekboom plants on the estate, and the fresh, vibrant sauvignon blanc and rich, velvety syrah available at Sainsbury’s are named in the plant’s honour.
