Ingredients

  • 3–5 soft dates, pitted
  • 1–2 shots espresso (2–4 tbsp)
  • 250ml unsweetened plant milk (such as almond or soya milk)
  • 2 tsp cacao powder
  • 3 tbsp gluten-free rolled oats
  • 1 tsp cold-pressed coconut oil
  • 2 ice cubes

Step by step

  1. Put all of the ingredients in a blender and whiz on a high speed until smooth.
  2. Taste and adjust the sweetness and coffee flavour to your liking by adding more dates, espresso or milk, if necessary.
  3. Pour into one medium-sized glass or cup and enjoy right away. Swirl a splash of extra plant milk into the top with a spoon, if you like.
