The Best Of James Bond, Royal Festival Hall

Celebrate the UK’s most famous secret service agent with over 50 years of all the iconic music and songs at the Royal Festival Hall on Friday 23 March at 7.30pm. The London Concert Orchestra, conducted by John Rigby, will take you from the conception of the iconic theme music through to today in The Best Of James Bond.
The distinctive James Bond sound was firmly established within a decade of the release of the first film. Composed by Monty Norman and arranged by John Barry, the James Bond Theme is recognised around the world, evoking visions of gun barrels and explosive chase scenes. The Bond songs have also become famous in their own right, often setting the tone and theme, and usually matching the title of the film. These songs have often been sung by major recording artists of the day, with Shirley Bassey’s Goldfinger, Paul McCartney and Wings’ Live And Let Die and Carly Simon’s Nobody Does It Better just three memorable examples.
The London Concert Orchestra and leading West End performers Louise Dearman (above) and Oliver Tompsett will perform all these classic songs and many more. You’ll hear the dark and mysterious From Russia With Love and the distinctive Diamonds Are Forever, as well as Thunderball, For Your Eyes Only, You Only Live Twice and The Spy Who Loved Me. The modern Bond sound will also make an appearance with the jazzy brass of Tomorrow Never Dies and the Academy Award-winning Skyfall.

Crazy For Gershwin national tour

Broadway glamour and toe-tapping tunes take centre stage in Crazy For Gershwin, which features the very best music, song and dance. George and Ira Gershwin wrote much of the highly melodic music in the American songbook, and this concert is packed with some of their most acclaimed work, including Someone To Watch Over Me, excerpts from Porgy And Bess, A Foggy Day (In London Town), ’S Wonderful and the iconic Rhapsody In Blue.
The concert will be performed by the 25-piece London Concert Orchestra, special guest vocalists Rodney Earl Clarke and Katie Birtill plus a glamorous ballroom duo and two sensational tap dancers. ‘Perfect for anyone who appreciates the music of Gershwin or is a fan of musical theatre; it has rhythm, it has music, who could ask for anything more?’ Nottingham Post.
