News feed: a new Japanese restaurant in Leeds, Thai flavours on the menu in Putney and a tennis match to remember.
Every week, we round up the newest openings, menus and exciting news from the food world. This week, it’s a new Japanese restaurant in Leeds, Thai flavours in Putney and a tennis match to remember.
New Opening: Issho
Last week saw the opening of Issho in Victoria Gate, Leeds – a Japanese rooftop restaurant and bar, serving sharing dishes and using Yorkshire produce. We’ve got our eye on the smoked Dorset char with wasabi leaf dressing, and the barley miso lamb cutlets with smoked aubergine and cucumber.
The Modern Pantry Tennis
This Wednesday, make your way to The Modern Pantry in Finsbury Square, London, to watch chef-owner Anna Hansen and head chef Rob McLeary challenge German chef Eduard Jaisler to a gastronomic ‘tennis’ match in honour of the upcoming Wimbledon Championships. The teams will create a three-course menu to be tasted by guests and one will win! Buy your tickets here.
Want to make your plates pretty as a picture? Sainsbury’s has the answer; this week they're launching an edible flowers range. At £3 a punnet, they’re the perfect way to amp up your salads, cocktails and cakes. For recipe inspiration check out our rose-scented cake with crystallised flowers – the perfect summer showstopper.
New Menu: Thai Square Putney Bridge
Set right on the River Thames at Putney Bridge, Thai Square is the ultimate dinner destination. With beautiful interiors and a stunning view, it’s a little slice of luxury in the heart of southwest London. Chef Parichat Sanguthai has created a stunning new menu full of authentic dishes that are bursting with flavour. We particularly love the seafood platter, the oriental duck, and the coconut flan to round everything off.
